The decoration consists of four art benches. Artwork and bench in one, placed at the top of the amphitheater and cafeteria area at Kronstad Oppveksttun in Bergen.

The title of the work is Portal. Each of the four benches in Portal has subtitles: Soar, Climb, Swim, Crawl.

They are all portals to fantasy worlds, inspired by elements in nature, different ecosystems. “Soar” is connected to the air, the sky and everything that flies around up there. “Climb” connects to lush forests and everything that can hide in it. “Swim” shows several layers down into the ocean. From the surface, what we see, and down into the depths to everything we cannot see. “Crawl” takes us down below the surface of the earth, to all the cavities and realms of the deep.
All of these worlds are similar to our own, but are still quite different. Sizes, roles and dynamics have changed. Humans are small, actors in an ecosystem where they are not necessarily at the top. There are many stories in each picture, and you will constantly discover new ones when you sit and study them.

I work a lot on designing such worlds in paper, but in this context I have continued my artistic expression from paper to printing on glass. Paper has its limitations and switching to glass in contexts where there is a point opens up completely new possibilities in terms of application, placement and format.

The light in the benches is programmed in a specific sequence, it gradually turns on and off throughout the day and the result is a dynamic and living work of art that is constantly changing. The works are also influenced by the natural daylight which creates exciting shadow play.
